Valentine’s Day inspired Sprinkle

Am I behind the times or are these “Sprinkles” a new type of party?  Well, if you are like me and don’t know what a Sprinkle is – it is a small, informal gathering for a mama expecting her second/third/fourth, etc baby.  There isn’t the pomp and circumstance of the baby gear gifting just a “sprinkling” of little gifts.  I am loving this idea!  With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I thought a Valentine’s Day inspired Sprinkle was appropriate.  The great thing about this party theme is that it could easily translate into a shower/party “full of love” theme if you choose to use these elements outside of the month of February.  And the Big Fringe Garland DIY from Oh Happy Day may just be one of the coolest things ever and could be used for any party, in any color scheme. More details on the elements below and tell me… have you thrown a Sprinkle?valentines-day-sprinkleThe fun thing about a Sprinkle is that it is less formal which means taking it a notch down not the decor front.  Pulling together a beautiful bouquet of full flowers in a simple vase is enough to set an elegant but understated touch.  But adding this amazing DIY garland makes the party feel extra special and is definitely the focal point of the soiree (second to the baby bump of course).  Menu wise, you could keep it simple and do just deserts or throw in something more substantial like a sweet and a savory crepe.  Or make it a full out brunch – whatever is easiest and most casual for you!  The Wishes for Baby is always fun and is special no matter what number child. The pashmina as a favor is another great idea.  You can usually find pretty decent ones reasonably priced and it is a nice, functional touch for all your Sprinkle guests.  Oh and don’t forget the little hat and glove gift for the baby… even if he/she is a summer baby these hat and mittens (in the appropriate size) would work for next winter too.  All in all a Sprinkle sounds fun and something I may just have to try in the near future!

  1. Very cool! This is the first I’ve heard of a “Sprinkle.”

I imagine the possibilities are endless with themes, and simple-yet-classy touches. Perhaps the older child(ren) could create something that would work as a centerpiece or another decoration, or perhaps the new baby’s name could be used as a theme, too.

We had a ton of fun playing with our daughter’s initials: SHE. In fact, we just sent out an update and I did it acrostic-style. Family and friends have loved it.
